Details: Constructed in 2014 thanks to a generous gift from the Spirit Lake United Methodist Church, the Pergola is ideal for a small group gathering or as the centerpiece of a larger event. Located on top of the old Tabernacle hill, this area provides an excellent view of the North Campus and surrounding areas.
Details: Tucked away and hidden from the hustle and bustle of camp is where you’ll find this beautiful chapel area. Built by Rev. John Battern and family, this is a truly unique space to find yourself lost in nature.
All meals are served in Lake Okoboji U.M. Camp & Retreat Center’s dining hall. From barbeques to large group banquets, cozy breakfasts to formal dinners, we can do it all for you! Lake Okoboji U.M. Camp & Retreat Center is known across Iowa for it’s GREAT FOOD SERVICE!

We want to help make your Okoboji retreat experience even better! Our professional staff are trained to facilitate all of your programming needs. Once you’ve booked your retreat, let us know (at least two weeks before your event) which programming activities you’d like to add. Tour the beautiful South Campus prairie including: one of the highest natural points in Iowa, native plants, wildlife, wet-lands, and fishing pond.
Swim in the beautiful blue water of Iowa’s popular West lake Okoboji. Waterfront area includes: sand beach area, multiple docks with ladders, swim platform, non-swimmers area, benches, picnic tables and a children’s park. Life jackets available on request.
Enjoy fishing at the Okoboji waterfront area or in our private stocked fishing pond. Fishing is no-cost to guests who bring their own equipment. Guests are responsible for supplying bait.
Our campfire/ outdoor amphitheater includes: seating w/back-rests for 200, large/multi-tiered stage with power and lighting, and hand-crafted fire-ring. Or, for that rustic campfire feel, Okoboji also has a smaller available.
Test your targeting skills at Okoboji’s shaded archery area. Archery activities are staff supervised using student level tackle. (Min. group size of 6, 1 hour gives groups plenty of time to reach the bullseye).
Get your thrill on at Okoboji’s very popular go-kart track. Participants “tear up” the maintained/mile-long off-road track which includes a safe loading/unloading area, directional/warning signs and spectator viewing area. Track is located safely away from vehicles, roads and buildings.
A cross between skateboarding and snowboarding. Cruise down your choice of two groomed hills on Okoboji’s South campus – some of the highest natural hills in Iowa! All participants wear safety gear and receive a safety orientation prior to usage.
Experience, first hand, the beauty of Iowa’s West Lake Okoboji! Canoe around Okoboji’s swim area, across the bay to Triboji beach, or down to Arnold’s Amusement Park for a nutty bar. All participants are required to wear a life jacket.
Challenge Activities / Games
Groups of 10-15 people are led by an experienced Okoboji staff facilitator in fun/meaningful team building games, activities and group processing. Available year-round.
*Climbing Tower / Traverse Wall
Groups and individuals grow in strength, confidence and leadership as they experience the 40′ climbing tower and traverse wall located on the South Campus.
Experience 300 feet of speed as you zip along the rustic prairie at high speeds. This event will challenge your climbing ability and courage as you walk off a 40′ ledge and into the safety of your harness.
Just because it’s cold outside doesn’t mean you need to stay in! Rental includes your appropriate size (men, women, children) as well as poles. Contact camp for more specific information and to set up your rental.
Play fields, softball field, campfire areas, tether-ball court, and board games.
Climb 40 feet high for an experience like none other in this open air playground. This course will encourage teamwork and opportunities to grow as an individual and as a group.
Deposit for reservations of facilities/food service is 50% of estimated lodging fee and is due 2 weeks after you receive your “reservation agreement”. This is a security deposit and 100% of your deposit will apply to the Total Rental Price. Reservations are not valid until payment is received. Deposits are refundable up to 30 days prior to retreat.
