A little bit about us...
Eric Scheve
Eric is originally from Indianola, IA. He has served in almost every capacity possible at camp prior to being being hired as Site Director in the fall of 2019. Eric enjoys staying active, along with following his favorite sports teams, the Oakland A’s and Raiders. One of Eric's hobbies and passions is hot air ballooning, with family and friends. Need another person for a game or activity, look for Eric, as he is ready to join in on the fun! “I love camping and retreat ministries because of the people i’ve gotten to know and the countless memories we make in such an amazing, Christ-filled place.”
Kali Tomlinson
Kali is originally from Flint, Michigan. In her 10+ years working in the camping industry, she has worked at camps in four different states and held almost every camp role before joining LOUMC at the end of 2021. Kali enjoys cooking, trivia, kayaking and writing letters to family and friends. Kali also enjoys geeking out over her favorite books, movies and tv shows! Her favorite camp activities are campfires and tie-dye, but you will see her all over camp ready to join in any fun! Kali’s camp philosophy is “One enkindled spirit can set hundreds on fire.” – William H. Danforth
Chris Samsel
Chris has been part of the LOUMC Staff since the summer of 2019. He is married to his wife Roxanne and they have 3 children and 5 grandkids. Chris enjoys restoring classic cars, wood working, motorcycle riding and watching his favorite sports teams (Cubs, Cowboys and Hawkeyes). Chris enjoys working at camp because he loves being outdoors and working with his hands. He enjoys the variety of tasks and jobs that come with the job. Chris says, “I think the camp is great for the youth who attend both for their spiritual growth and socially. I’m proud to be a small part of that.”
Rachel Ruba
Rachel is originally from the Lakes Area and loves being involved with the area she calls home. While Rachel hasn’t previously worked in a camp setting, she is heavily involved in her church and has been working in office positions for years. Rachel loves to spend time with her family. She also enjoys taking time to work on photography and graphics projects as well. “I love seeing people learn about God and grow in their faith. It excites me to know how my work at the camp can really shine through to both the kids and adults who spend time here.”
